Three Little Wanderers (Masterpiece Collection) - HUM 927 HSC 69139093
Masterpiece. Novelty 2018.
A Pinnacle of Ceramic Engineering and Human Spirit. Where shall we go? Three Little Wanderers (HUM 927) is a breathtaking 2018 Novelty and a crown jewel of the Masterpiece Collection. This poignant scene depicts three young hikers pausing at an unlabeled signpost, seeking direction for their journey. Based on an original drawing by Sister Maria Innocentia, this figurine was designed by Marion Huschka at the request of Pastor Wilhelm Renz for his refuge for the homeless. It serves as a powerful reminder to pause and reflect on our own life's path, ensuring we stay the course with hope and purpose.
A Feat of Artisan Skill: Bringing this scene to life requires the absolute pinnacle of artisan expertise. The figurine is meticulously assembled from 30 individual parts. To ensure flawless detail, one of the boys is painted entirely on his own before being joined to his friends, allowing the master painter to reach every intricate space. Furthermore, the firing process is exceptionally complex; due to the delicate wayside cross, a custom support mold must be built to prevent the piece from sinking in the 1,140°C kiln. This is more than a decoration—it is a tribute to the human spirit and a masterpiece of German porcelain.

The size is perfect. I also love that all three boys have open eyes. The expression on their faces gives the feeling that they are looking for direction, searching for their destination. There are so many details and who cannot love the story that inspired this piece.
