In the Orchard (Hum 461)
Thoughtfully, the little gardener looks at the
apple in his hand. Has the fruit developed
well? Should plant another little tree for the
coming year? It used to be a normal thing for
the children to work diligently in the
house and fields and to take responsibility
early on. Our gardener may
have been sent by his mother
to carefully inspect and
collect the apples.
Is Mama going to make jam or compote from the fruit, or are
the apples to be put into the cellar for later? The juicy
fruits were – at times when fresh fruit was still scarce
in winter – as valuable suppliers of vitamins and
energy during the cold season. In 1984 master sculptor
Gerhard Skrobek breathed life into our little fruit
lover. Until now, the motif has been kept under lock
and key in the archives – now the figurine is being
introduced for the first time. Be among the first to
hold this original in your hands and order now.
