Holy Family (Nativity Piece) - HUM 2230
The Holy Family is probably the strongest image from the story of the birth of Jesus, recorded in the Christian Christmas story:
"Then Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife; she was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." (from the Gospel of Luke).
In Christianity, the birth of Jesus was depicted in different ways from an early stage. The custom of showing the scene in a manger has survived to this day and is still practiced in Europe. Christmas cribs are therefore often passed down from generation to generation.
With the Holy Family, consisting of Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus in the manger, you can see the centerpiece of our nativity scene. The three figures harmonize perfectly with each other as an ensemble and are therefore suitable as a Christian and contemplative Christmas decoration even without the other components of the nativity scene. The mother of Christ is shown praying with a blue cloak, Joseph with dark orange clothing. As described in the Christmas story, the baby Jesus was laid in a manger after his birth.
Mary (HUM 2230/A), Joseph (HUM 2230/B) and the baby Jesus (HUM 2230/C) are of course also available individually. They are integral parts of the 17-piece nativity set.
