A song at the fence. There is no need to hurry when the company is this good. In Wayside Harmony (HUM 111 3/0), a young Bavarian boy takes a well-deserved break, resting on a rustic wooden fence. He isn't alone for long—a cheerful songbird has perched right beside him, filling the air with a sweet melody.
Dressed in traditional lederhosen and his favorite feathered hat, he is the picture of rural contentment. Modeled by Master Sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1938 and originally known by the playful title Just Sittin-Boy, this figurine has been a collector favorite for over 80 years. Whether he’s reminding you to slow down and enjoy the day or standing as a cornerstone of your vintage collection, Wayside Harmony brings a touch of harmonic peace to any display.
In the Hummel world, these two go hand-in-hand. Create a "Wayside" scene on your shelf by pairing them together:
-
Just Resting (HUM 112 3/0): The official companion girl. She sits on a matching fence with her basket, smiling back at her friend in perfect harmony.
-
Mountaineer (HUM 315): For the boy who didn't stop to rest! He makes a great addition to a "climbing and wandering" theme.
-
Apple Tree Boy (HUM 142 /I): Another iconic boy-and-nature scene that captures the spirit of the German countryside.
