A grand performance for the ages. Stepping out in his finest concert attire, the young musician in Serenade (HUM 85/III) is ready to captivate his audience. Dressed in a sophisticated jacket and his signature black top hat, he prepares to play a hauntingly beautiful melody on his flute.
As part of the prestigious M.I. Hummel Masterpiece Collection, this large-scale mold allows every detail—from the tilt of his hat to the placement of his fingers on the flute—to shine with incredible clarity. Originally introduced in the late 1930s under the name The Flutist, this character has become one of the most iconic symbols of Hummel's musicality. Whether he is "serenading the town" from your mantel or leading a woodwind section in your Hummel orchestra, this Masterpiece is a crown jewel for any serious collector.
The Masterpiece Collection allows you to create a "Grand Stage" in your own home. Pair Serenade with these other elite musical figures currently available:
-
Soloist - Masterpiece (HUM 135/III): Add a lead vocal to the flute's melody with this elegantly dressed singer.
-
Band Leader - Masterpiece (HUM 129/III): The conductor needed to lead your large-scale instrumentalists in perfect harmony.
-
Sweet Music - Masterpiece (HUM 186/III): Combine the flute with the deep tones of the cello for a sophisticated Masterpiece duet.
*The Serenade Masterpiece is unique because of its vertical presence. The top hat adds significant height and "prestige" to a display. If you are arranging a musical group, place the Serenade slightly to the side of the Band Leader to create the look of a professional orchestral woodwind section.

More Information
The most noted variation on this figurine is the position of the boy's fingers on the flute. You can find figurines with some of the fingers extended while other versions have all the fingers down. It should also be noted that there is a beautiful blue Hum 85 in the 7.50 size, while all of the others have a brown jacket. It seems peculiar that normal Serenades were not painted in blue since that is the color on the original artwork. The 12.50 inch size is part of the "Millennium Love" series, which included Sweet Music, Little Fiddler, Band Leader and Soloist. Made in Germany.
