- Festival Tradition- HUM 917 HSC 69139093
Celebrating the rhythm of Bavaria! Join this joyful young lad as he sets off for a traditional springtime celebration. Festival Tradition (HUM 917) captures a unique piece of German history: the art of Goasslschnalzen (whip cracking). Dressed in his festive attire, he carries a whip—a nod to the centuries-old custom where carriage drivers cracked their whips rhythmically to announce their arrival.
Today, Goasslschnalzen is a beloved competitive sport and a "concert-like" performance in Bavaria. This figurine is a wonderful tribute to those who keep heritage alive through music and motion. Whether you have roots in Bavaria or simply love the spirited energy of a town festival, Festival Tradition brings a "crack" of excitement and culture to your Hummel display.
Create a lively town square scene by pairing Festival Tradition with these festival-ready companions:
-
Festival Journey (HUM 2380): The designated companion girl, ready for a day of celebration.
-
Carnival Can Come (HUM 2428): For the ultimate "party" shelf, showing a child ready for the fun and costumes of Fasching (Carnival).
-
Full of Charm (HUM 2282/B): Because every festival needs a gentleman with a beautiful bouquet.
-
Grandpa's Boy (HUM 562): Since both boys wear traditional Alpine hats and gear, they look fantastic together on a "German Heritage" shelf.

This figurine and its explanation is in line with Bavarian Tradition. Since I am member of a Bavarian Folk dancing group here in North America I have seen perfomances using the whip to accompany music.
