King Melchior (Nativity Piece) - HUM 2230/G
The Nativity Scene - a Christian Christmas symbol.
Melchior, Caspar and Balthasar - the Three Wise Men. They are probably the best-known trio from the biblical Christmas story and have thus become indispensable for the Christmas season. As the three wise men from the East with their famous gifts, they followed a star that led them to the stable in Bethlehem. "When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, 'Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We have seen his star in the East and have come to worship him. '" (from the Gospel of Matthew).
In the stable they presented their famous gifts: gold, frankincense and myrrh. Melchior, shown here with light hair, a crown and a green cloak, presents the gold. The Hummel figure is holding a small treasure chest in his hand in which the gold can be seen in great detail. The figurine of (HUM 2230/J) are also in the manger as Melchior's loyal companion. If you would rather order the Three Wise Men as a set, we recommend the Hummel figurine “Carolers” (HUM 2412) . This alludes to the custom on January 6th, when the wise men from the East go from door to door and bless the houses.
Full set of the nativity and stable are available as well.
