Donkey ( Nativity Piece) - HUM 2230/N

The donkey is one of the classic nativity figures - and this is also the case with the Hummel Manufaktur. The animal with the grey fur is a biblical symbol and has therefore been linked to the Christmas story from the very beginning. But well-known figures from Christian scriptures other than Mary and Joseph also kept donkeys - for example as transport animals or as what we would call pets today. In the Old Testament, donkeys were also a kind of measure of a person's wealth - the more animals, the wealthier.

Together with the lambs (HUM 2230/P) and (HUM 2230/O) and the calf (HUM 2230/M), the donkey is an indispensable element of the nativity scene. Full set of the nativity and stable are available to purchase.
