Annual Angel 2021.
"Fly, little friend - I'll protect you on all your paths!" Hummel lovers have been waiting for this. For many collectors, annual angels have become a beloved tradition to add the new Hummel angel to their collection every year.
She is a charming little messenger from heaven, with one accessory that stands out in particular: a bumblebee has settled on her hand and charmingly establishes a connection to Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. The artist has occasionally integrated such a little bumblebee into her pictures in reference to her name - but there are only a few figurines with a bumblebee.
In the life of Maria Innocentia, who grew up in a deeply religious family, angels and especially guardian angels played a major role from the very beginning. This continued in the Sießen Monastery, because Saint Francis, as the founder of the order, showed great reverence for angels. It is known that Maria Innocentia read the book "The Ideals of Saint Francis of Assisi" by Father Hilarin Felder intensively. She also knew the clergyman personally and painted a portrait of him. Innocentia probably felt a deep connection to angels. It is not surprising that she drew the heavenly messengers in so many of her pictures. To this day, people see the winged creatures as welcome companions who provide protection, comfort and confidence.
