At the beginning of the 2000s, the Hummel Manufaktur designed a small but very special series: especially for the US military, the Hummel produced honorary figurines that were offered exclusively to US soldiers stationed in Germany and were not available for sale in the USA or Europe. One of these figurines was this lovely little Hummel girl with a bouquet of flowers in her hand. She symbolized the families' longing wait for the soldiers' return and at the same time the great joy at the long-awaited reunion after often months of separation.

Other companions of "Homecoming" are "Declaration of Freedom" (HUM 2114/II) and "Duty Calls" (HUM 2194).
