Where does the package have to go now, little friend? Our little messenger wants to make sure that he is delivering his goods to the right door. With his finger thoughtfully raised to his chin, he looks to the next doorbell. Is the right name on it?
"Duty Calls" and "Homecoming" (HUM 2216/II), are one of the figures that were made exclusively for the US military in the early 2000s. The "Ambassadors of Freedom" were intended to express the joy of being reunited after a long deployment abroad and the deep connection to home.
“Duty Calls” also has a lot in common with the “Little Miss Mail Carrier” (HUM 2120), a small parcel carrier who is about to deliver her parcel to the right address. Both are wearing a thick winter jacket and matching hat, and their feet are in sturdy shoes. With their thick jackets, they form a cute winter duo that no Hummel collection should be without. The two are completed by the “Little Miss Mail Carrier” – one of the very first Hummel figurine, which came onto the market in 1939.
